Real census

Antiphisher editor's note:
The real 2010 Census will ask for name, gender, age, race, ethnicity, relationships, and whether you own or rent your home — just 10 simple questions. It would be a fake one if it asked how much money you made and what you owed on our house and what the house value was and any other personal information.

the Census Bureau will knock on the door of every household that does not mail back a completed form. The census taker must present an ID that has a Department of Commerce watermark and expiration date. Ask the census taker for supervisor contact information and/or the local census office phone number for verification. A real census taker will not ask you for your Social Security number, bank account number, credit card number or any other personal financial information. A real census taker will never ask for donations and will never contact you by e-mail.

If you think that you have received a scam census form by mail, contact your local postal inspector. The real census site is at www.census.gov
